We went to Tien Thuy, Ben Tre in mid-July, when it was still raining, drenching the hundred year old house We were fortunate enough to meet Huynh Bach Long, the caretaker of the temple which has been looked after by his family for more than 4 generations. He provided enchanting stories about historical events, anecdotes and festivals which took place at the site over its long history. The unique combination of the ancient and dignified space of the main hall, which is the place of worship of the gods in Tien Thuy, along with the quiet side of the Ham Luong river and the stage area dedicated to locals enjoying the singing of boi and Cai Luong during festivals is what drew us to admire the surreal site. But the more attention we paid to the details of the structures, the more clearly we saw the symptoms of the ravages of time imprinted in the somewhat idyllic and rustic architecture of the communal house. This prompted us to expand SEENSIO's focus to include preserving and spreading this unique architectural and artistic space for the current and future generations.02
